Mark S. Barrett joined AAM on March 1, 1994 as a Staff Project Engineer. Since then, he has served in various engineering positions with increasing responsibility including Director, Mid Size Axle Programs; Executive Director, Released & Domestic Programs; Executive Director, Powertrain, Driveshaft & Halfshaft Engineering; Executive
Director, Axle & Drivetrain; Executive Director, Engineering & Global Prototype; Vice President, Engineering & Product Development; Group Vice President, Engineering, Product Development & Procurement; Group Vice President, Engineering and Procurement; Group Vice President, Procurement & Program Management, Group Vice President, Procurement, Program Management & Driveshaft Business Unit and Group Vice President, Program Management, Material Cost Optimization, Procurement & Driveshaft Business Unit. Barrett assumed his current position of Group Vice President, Driveshafts in May 2015.
Barrett began his automotive career as a co-op student in 1984 for General Motors. Prior to joining AAM in 1994, he served in various Manufacturing and Engineering positions with GM. He served as Project Engineer for GM's full size truck axles and passenger car axles, as well as Senior Liaison Engineer - Axles at GM's Technical Center and Staff Project Engineer - Driveshafts.
Barrett received a bachelor of science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University.
