Marco Bani, Ph.D., actually Head of Technical Secretariat and Public relations Office at AgID (Agency for Digital Italy), a government agency in charge to foster innovation and digital processes, specially in public administration. This role draws on my academic background as well as my experience in public policy. I served as Private Secretary to
the Minister of Education, University and Research in Italy, obtaining insights into the executive branch of government, where I participated in the core of public policy making. I was responsible for disseminating the decisions of the Minister, ensuring their full implementation by the ministerial structures and coordinating the work between the members of Parliament and the Minister. When I was elected city councillor in Pisa, I took an active role in policy-making and political leadership, determining planning applications and community representation. On the academic side, I have developed collaborations with MIT and King's College of London which I have drawn on in the PhD in "Politics, Human Rights and Sustainability " at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, (Pisa, Italy), researching on the improvement of democracy using technologies and new media. I have a MA degree in Humanities Computing (University of Pisa, Italy, 2008), and my collaboration with King's College of London started at CCH (Centre for Computing in the Humanities), firstly as Assistant Lecturer, later as Research Fellow at King's Visualization Lab, focused in the research of technology and humanities. In addition to that, my period as visiting student at the Center for Civic Media, MIT Media Lab, allowed me to work on cutting-edge and antidisciplinary methodologies. My international and very diversified background and interdisciplinary education makes me flexible, quick to pick up new skills and eager to learn from others. I wrote 2 books: "Srebrenica per non dimenticare", on the Bosnian genocide, and "Italia ce la puoi fare" on the future of my country.
