Marcel Gemme, a certified Drug & Alcohol Treatment Specialist (DATS), has dedicated over two decades to assisting individuals battling addiction. His journey in the field began in 2000 when he took on the role of an intake counselor at a drug rehabilitation center. Over the course of five years in this position, Marcel played a crucial role in
guiding numerous addicts toward the path of treatment. He also engaged with the addicts' families and friends, witnessing the profound impact addiction has on familial bonds and relationships.
Observing the escalating issues of drug and alcohol addiction in both the United States and Canada, Marcel decided to leverage technology to broaden his reach. He aimed to educate and support a larger audience across these nations. This vision led to the creation of DRS 15 years ago, an organization that embodies its commitment to making a difference in the lives of those affected by addiction.
Since then, Marcel has built two of the largest websites in the U.S. (addicted.org) and Canada (drugrehab.ca), which reach and help millions of people each year. He is an author and a leader in the field of drug and alcohol addiction. His primary focus is threefold: education, prevention, and rehabilitation. To this day, he still strives to be at the forefront of technology in order to help more and more people. His most recent project is SUPE: Substance Use Prevention Education (learnwithsupe.org).
