Education
After completing his M.A. in public administration at Leiden University in 2001, Maarten de Jeu received M.B.A. in business education from the University of Oxford in 2005. Career
While still a student at Leiden University, Maarten de Jeu was hired in 1999 as an analyst for TVDK Management Consultants in Amsterdam. Conducting research, providing strategic analysis and recommendations for clients were his primary duties. He left the company in 2007 and took a position as an international consultant at Aviva PLC in London, where he developed business strategies to expand into new markets. In 2008, Maarten de Jeu was promoted as Director and transferred to Chicago. He was given the responsibility to assess new business opportunities, create portfolio reviews for merging companies, and to increase life insurance sales in the United States. The Economic Club of Chicago and the Environmental Law & Policy Center, are organizations where Maarten de Jeu is a member.
Business Model
Here are a few cases that highlight various aspects of the business model that SVM Advisory has been pursuing under Maarten de Jeu’s leadership. In one case, he acquired over 1000 apartments for an ultra-high net worth investor for whom he built financial models, led negotiations, managed due diligence and closing process. In another case, SVM Business Advisory improved two underperforming multi-family assets by redesigning operational flows and implementing a quality assurance over quality control program to reduce the costs. In still another case, Maarten de Jeu coordinated the sales of a U.S. based engineering firm, where he developed valuation models and identified potential buyers by developing a partnership with a Portuguese technology firm that led to a $35 million contract. Most recently, Maarten de Jeu managed 5 cross-functional work teams led by senior executives to review and analyze strategic options, which led to a 5-year strategy that was projected to double U.S. Life sales to $300 million and generate $50 million in incremental profit. The sales came up short but the profit reached $134 million.
