Luca is a private investor with extensive exposure to global markets and themes. He started his career as an economist at the World Bank in the USA and later changed to portfolio manager postings with a major investment firm in Dublin; first on the US and Far East desk and later on as head of specialised global funds. In the early 2000s, he
pioneered the Chinese fund management industry by creating in Shanghai one of the very first JV in the Chinese Market. Appointed CEO of the company he led its entire execution and launch, achieving the company profitability over the first operational year. He left at the end of his mandate with the full return of shareholders’ invested capital. Most recently he founded and managed a China-focused hedge fund and covered a director position with Abraxas Capital Management, a financial company headquartered in London. Luca holds master degrees in International Relations and Economics from Johns Hopkins University (SAIS) and in Business Studies from University College Dublin.
