Creating a healthy climate takes lots of work - whether you're talking about the interior climate of a building or the business climate for an industry. Lori Bauer, owner of Brooklyn Center-based mechanical and temperature-control contractor Climate Makers Inc., has experience on both counts.
Her firm makes buildings comfortable and
through her professional and trade industry work, Bauer has helped promote education, training and opportunity for workers.
Bauer worked as an HVAC tradesperson and as a service manager for another local contractor before purchasing Climate Makers in 2006. Since then, she has grown the company's revenue from $5 million to $17 million and opened two satellite offices.
In the traditionally male-dominated mechanical trades, Bauer's success serves as an inspiration for other women. In 2017, she was the first woman to win the Minnesota Mechanical Contractors Association Distinguished Service Award.
Bauer is involved with the Minnesota Educational Facility Management Professionals Association and several other industry associations, plus serves as a management representative on the St, Paul Pipefitters Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee.
