Les Ovelson is the Vice President of Operations for Aveda Transportation and Energy Services, Canada Operations and is responsible for the organization’s daily operations within Canada. Les brings a commitment and passion for building and leading synergistic teams in organizational structures from start-ups to established performance cultures for
more than two decades in North American heavy oilfield transportation roles. In addition, his leadership responsibilities have included Marketing, Business Development, Human Resources, and HSE leading to a well-rounded operational vision of success.
Les joined Aveda in early Q3-16 after a career with Kos Oilfield Transportation and ATK Oilfield Transportation. As the Chief Operating Officer of ATK Oilfield Transportation, Les took the company from the start-up concept to operating six terminals across Canada and the United States. Les is a second-generation oilfield leader, following the industry his father also loved. He has nurtured a lifelong commitment to the priority of relationships combined with financial acumen for success in the oilfield.
In addition to career positions with Kos and ATK, Les has successfully consulted with a variety of companies to provide contract supervision, problem identification and resolution, and subject matter expertise in heavy oilfield transportation.
It is a source of pride for Les that he has been involved in every position within heavy oilfield transportation and he leverages that experience to create professional credibility, environments of trust and safety, and a philosophy that great teams support the organization’s success.
