Larry Lozon has been a witness and contributor to successive technological revolutions that shaped today's information economies.
Working for General Motors, Larry had the opportunity to leverage the early promise and power of desktop computing and the birth of the packaged software market. In 1984, GM decided to buy a "little"
Texas computer firm named EDS. Larry saw the future and jumped aboard the digital avalanche that followed managing deployments of tens of thousands of PCs into GM facilities ultimately winding up launching a process to manage standardization and leverage for one of the then largest deployments of personal computers in existence.
Larry kicked off the 90s delivering a living history of the Information Age in a permanent exhibition at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History and a world class Disney-esque marketing center for EDS in downtown Dallas. Starting with pre-browser internet in the 80's, Larry saw the web early and acted on a gut feel that the browser thing would change the world. Larry brought that world change to GM who in turn asked Larry to launch a startup for them to manage their digital marketing endeavors. By the late 90s the dotcom boom was ablaze and Larry saw the need to begin to address digital identity and privacy and the power of online data launching PrivaSeek Inc. raising $50M in capital and a $750M pre-IPO valuation.
The 2000s saw a return to help EDS regain its footing in the hosting world with the acquisition of Loudcloud - the first cloud computing firm and overseeing the deployment of early automation and virtualization tooling into the company's global data center footprint. Late 2000s Larry returned to startup company innovating focusing on cloud computing growth and on growing challenges in CyberSecurity. Cyphre is the latest success and an important contribution to the critical need for effective data protection.
