Kumar Anubhav is the Founder of NotOnMap. Kumar is a certified mountaineer, who has a passion for purposeful travel. He has traveled extensively across India and around the world (50+ Countries) to experience the diversified multilingual culture on our planet and hence most of his tours have been to the countryside than the cities. He has been a
part of an expedition program in Antarctica. Apart from being a certified mountaineer, he is an avid yoga practitioner, a passionate social thinker, and a change maker. Kumar also holds an engineering degree in Electronics and Communication from Delhi College of Engineering.
Being associated with various social organizations in the Himalayas since his college days, Kumar has participated in numerous projects in the social development sector in the field of education, craft, agriculture, and healthcare. The journey of NotOnMap began during one such project where he realized the tremendous potential of hidden cultural treasures, and beautiful old-style traditional houses and felt pity for those villagers who did not have a sustainable source of livelihood despite possessing this invaluable and intangible wealth. Following this, a trekking tour in the Himalayas with Sandeep (Co-Founder, NotOnMap - purely as an investor), the concept of NotOnMap was seeded years back by the side of a river in one such house which today is rated as ‘One of Top 14 AirBnB stays in India’ and the same happens to be a NotOnMap stay.
Moved by the concept and its prospects, Kumar quit his fat paying job in Feb 2016 to make his life more meaningful which could bring a positive impact on the lives of those marginalized and vulnerable locals and villagers who are rich in culture BUT unfortunately cannot sustain themselves as they are abridged of their true share of travel economy. And the journey of struggle began….
Before starting his travel venture, Kumar has spent over 11 years in the corporate world at various leadership positions in Analytics Industry and has spent time in the US, UK, Europe, and India. He has in-depth knowledge, understanding, and rich experience in the field of Data Analytics and Big Data and served large MNCs to find meaningful data-driven business insight across various industries like – BFSI, Retail, Pharma, Telecom, Legal, and Health care. He has been instrumental in setting up the analytics arm of a company right from scratch and has built analytics practice for large companies as part of his professional journey. He was “Head – Big Data” and Fellow - Analytics Consultant at Antuit, Assistant Vice President with CPA Global, Group Leader- Analytics at Ameriprise Financial, and Data Scientist at Inductis, a management consulting company.
