Jackob “Kobi” Vortman, CEO, Founder and Chief Technology Officer of InSightec, founded the company in 1999. Under his leadership, InSightec developed, marketed its Magnetic Resonance guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) technology and received CE mark in Europe and US Food and Drug Administration approval for its technology. Prior to founding
InSightec, Dr. Vortman served as President of Elbit Medical Imaging, which together with GE Healthcare (formerly GE Medical Systems) formed InSightec and remains a major shareholder of the company. Part of Dr. Vortman’s responsibilities at Elbit Medical Imaging included the development of the proprietary MRgFUS technology that was passed to InSightec when the company was established.
Previously Dr. Vortman served as President and Chief Executive Officer at Diasonics Vingmed Ultrasound and as General Manager at ElscinTEC. For the 20 years prior, he worked with RAFAEL in a variety of areas, including marketing, business development, operations and engineering.
Dr. Vortman received his Ph.D. in Electro Optics and a BSc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa. He also received a BSc. in Physics and Mathematics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
