Knut has studied economics, political science and psychology at the University of Freiburg. Between 1996 and 2010 he worked for the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI). Since April 2006 he is Professor of the Chair of Innovation Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Management at the Technical University of Berlin.
Additionally he is Director of the Research Group on Public Innovation at the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication System in Berlin.
