Kal is a Silicon Valley-based serial entrepreneur and institutional investor. He is a venture partner at Zühlke Ventures AG and the co-founder of the Catalyst Technology Innovation Group (CTIG), a medical project generator focused on selecting and financing companies addressing unmet clinical needs. Kal co-founded and led several biotechnology
companies including Surgidev Corporation (Ciba Vision and Bausch & Lomb), Advanced Vision Science, Inc. (Santen Ltd), and Adoptics AG. He is a member of the board of directors of Advance International, Inc., Koya Medical, Inc., and Tenon Technologies, AG. Kal acted as an advisor for mergers and acquisitions with Warburg Pincus and has participated in over $2B in acquisitions and IPOs. Kal invented and brought to market key products and technologies in the healthcare/biotechnology fields. He has a PhD in materials sciences and engineering and holds over 30 patents.
