Kenneth Gavin is a consultant and active researcher in geotechnical engineering with seventeen years’ experience in the field. He completed a PhD on the topic of piling in 1998. Kenneth worked for Arup as a senior geotechnical engineer for 3 years before joining University College Dublin in 2001. He has continued to act as a geotechnical consultant
for major infrastructure projects, offshore design, wind farm developments, deep foundations and the design of urban basements and other soil-structure interaction problems. He has published widely in the areas of deep foundations, slope stability and reliability analysis. He is a member of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering technical committee on pile foundations and past chairman of Geotechnical Society of Ireland.
