Kendall has had a relationship with Ironwood for approximately twenty years, becoming formally affiliated in 2012 in representing the firm and locating investment opportunities in the southeastern United States. In an investment banking career of around thirty years, he has completed over $8.4 billion of transactions and has developed relationships
with a wide variety of private business owners, financial institutions and advisors.
Kendall began his career at Thornton, Farrish & Gaunt in Montgomery, Alabama, followed by positions with Thompson McKinnon Securities in Houston. He then spent several years with Chemical Bank and Credit Suisse in New York before moving to Chicago with Van Kampen Merritt. Kendall returned to Alabama in 1991 to develop the Capital Markets Division for SouthTrust Bank. Subsequently, he founded and developed investment banking practices for both Synovus Bank of Columbus, Georgia and Protective Life Insurance Company of Birmingham. A long-time member of the Bank Association of Corporate Finance, Kendall served as its President in 2005. He is currently a Senior Managing Director for Crews & Associates in Birmingham, developing and managing that firm’s corporate finance practice.
Kendall serves on the Advisory Board of St. Vincent’s Healthcare East, a member of the Ascension Health System. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Birmingham-Southern College Athletic Foundation and is also on the College’s Norton Board of Business Advisors. A former Eagle Scout, Kendall is an Assistant Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America’s Troop 28 in Birmingham, Alabama.
A native Alabamian, Kendall lives in Birmingham with his wife Ro, teenage son George, two dogs and a cat. He is a former Principal Bassist for the Red Mountain Chamber Orchestra in Birmingham, is a past member of the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra and has played in several big band and jazz groups. He still enjoys playing the bass occasionally, as well as bird hunting, golf and camping.
Kendall graduated cum laude from Birmingham-Southern College with majors in Economics, History, Political Science and French. He also received a Masters of Business Administration degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business in New York.
