As SmartNews’s Co-CEO, Ken is responsible for its business and corporate operations, as well as its product vision and strategy. Ken co-founded SmartNews with Kaisei Hamamoto in 2012, and has been a member of the board of directors since then. In 2009, he received a Ph.D. in complex systems from the University of Tokyo, where, as a project
researcher, he continues to study complex systems and the future of the Internet.
Ken was honored as a Super Creator by the MITOH Program of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2003. His first book, published in 2013, has been widely read in Japan's academic community, where he's regarded as one of the most significant thinkers about the Internet society.
