Ken DeKock joined Ruffalo Noel Levitz as the vice president of finance in October 2012. His responsibilities include coordination and direction of all financial services and accounting practices within the company, such as overseeing treasury, accounting, budget, tax, and audit activities, and strategic planning.
Ken began his career at
McGladrey, LLP in June 1977. He was promoted to general services manager in 1981, and became responsible for supervision and quality control of multiple overlapping engagements. In 1983, after only six years with the company, he was promoted to general services partner and assumed the role of client service coordinator. In this role, he was responsible for quality control and client satisfaction for dozens of business clients in a wide variety of industries and hundreds of individual clients and their families. Since 2002, he also served as an audit partner for companies in the manufacturing, distribution, media, technology and service industries.
At McGladrey, Ken assisted in the successful startup of a company including developing a business plan, obtaining financing, and organizing the accounting system. He also assisted many clients in the acquisition of businesses, including performing due diligence related to business and tax planning, and in the sale of businesses, including tax planning to maximize the return to the investors. In addition, Ken has significant
experience providing audit and tax services to portfolio companies utilizing complex partnership agreements with private equity groups.
Ken received a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in accounting from the University of Iowa in May 1977. He is a certified public accountant and a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Ken is very active in the Cedar Rapids community, including serving as the president of the board of the Indian Creek Nature Center, as treasurer and board member of Brucemore, Inc., as treasurer and board member of the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra, and as a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club of Cedar Rapids.
Ken was born and raised in Tipton, IA., and married his high school sweetheart Lynn in 1977. They have three children – Jason (31), Michael (28) and Jonathan (22). Ken enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, snowmobiling, and working in the yard.
