Since 1985, Jonathan Ullmer MBE has worked to increase pupils' exposure to both domestic and foreign cultures. With "outstanding" leadership, he transformed two schools from "unsatisfactory" to "excellent" while serving as the founding director of education and principal for CATS Colleges. International students
can increase their English proficiency for a career in the arts at CATS institutions while also preparing for university success.
At Durham and Oxford, Jonathan Ullmer received a distinction in teaching practice. At Victoria University in Canada, he pursued a study of North American literature. He holds an LRAM from the Royal Academy of Music and a certification in the Therapeutic and Educational Application of the Arts from the Institute for Arts in Education and Therapy.
In 1985, Mr. Ullmer started working as a teacher at Kent's Swanley School. He was appointed Director of the Arts Curriculum at Cecil Jones High School 11-18 Foundation School in Southend in 1989. At Essex's Sawyers Hall College of Science and Technology, he was appointed Assistant Principal in 2002. He was appointed Vice Principal of CATS College Cambridge in 2008, then in 2010 he was appointed Principal of CATS Canterbury.
In 2017, Jonathan agreed to Haileybury's invitation to lead their institution in Nur-Sultan. Jonathan was drawn to the city school by its need for school reform. There, he successfully guided the staff through an inspection that resulted in Haileybury being assessed as having outstanding international practice in 17 out of 19 areas.
