John A. Windsor is a Founder at SIMTICS. John previously worked at The University of Auckland as a Professor of Surgery and Director of Surgical Research. He attended The University of Auckland.
Professor John Windsor has a distinguished international career as a surgeon, scientist and educator. He holds a personal chair in Surgery at the
University of Auckland, and has undertaken Visiting Professorships to Harvard, Oxford, Karolinska, Singapore, Capetown, Johannesburg, Chengdu, Chandigarh and Delhi. He has been chairman of the Section of Academic Surgery at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Secretary-General of the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association. He is the first New Zealander to be elected Fellow of the American Surgical Association, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand. He established the first Surgical Skills Centre in New Zealand, and designed the Advanced Skills Centre in partnership with Mercy Ascot Integrated Hospitals Ltd. It was this close involvement in skills training that prompted him to found SIMTICS (originally Go Virtual Medical) in partnership with two other doctors, George Oosthuizen and Richard Bloxham. Bloxham and Oosthuizen are no longer involved with the company but are both significant shareholders.
