innovative technology, products, and solutions. fdks As Senior Vice President of Enterprise Storage at Western Digital Corporation (WDC), formerly SanDisk, Mr. Scaramuzzo managed exceptional growth for its startup enterprise flash P&L business, from $100M to over $1B annual run rate. John worked closely with the entire executive team to ensure each aspect of the business was optimized and leveraged for maximum achievement. John combines large-scale corporate best practices with his own entrepreneurial insights and creativity. In 2010, he founded Smart Storage Systems and served as President, building a new flash drive business to $100M annually in just three years, leading to a successful exit. At SanDisk, he led the industry’s movement to replace enterprise hard drives with solid state technology, coining the phrase “All Flash Data Center.” Most recently at WDC, John pioneered technology for the world’s first storage product line using nonvolatile memory interface (NVMe) over Ethernet. John has been instrumental in several major M&A deals including serving as a key executive in the sale of Maxtor to Seagate for $2B in 2006. In 2011, John helped SMART Modular complete a sale to Silverlake Sumeru for $560M. In 2013, as President of Smart Storage, John lead the deal team in the sale of Smart Storage to SanDisk for $307M. More recently, John drove strategic executive decisions in the successful merger of SanDisk into WDC for $19B. He also was instrumental in the post-merger integration of technologies and culture between the two organizations. Previously, as General Manager of Seagate Technology’s $4.5B Enterprise Compute Division, Mr. Scaramuzzo directed a staff of 800+ worldwide, delivering an innovative roadmap, reducing operational costs and improving product time-to- market. While at Maxtor, John served as Executive Vice President, managing over 1000 engineering resources and generating $3.6B+ annual revenue. He led the enterprise business unit to record profits and developed a disruptive product strategy which led to the sale to Seagate.
