John Quarles came to Conviva in July 2012 from Alta Devices, where he was the Director of Strategic Finance. At Alta Devices, Mr. Quarles developed the operating plan to scale manufacturing, established several strategic partnerships, and successfully executed an $80M equity financing and a $19M debt facility.
Prior to Alta Devices, Mr. Quarles
spent a decade in investment banking and equity research, working at Thomas Weisel Partners and Citibank. As an advisor to companies in the semiconductor, alternative energy, software and communications industries, Mr. Quarles has expertise in the areas of M&A, IPO’s, and a range of public and private financing processes with transaction values in excess of $500M. As the Director of Venture Capital Coverage at Thomas Weisel Partners, he managed an $80M business and developed an extensive global network of venture capital and private equity investors. Prior to entering the financial services industry, Mr Quarles worked at Accenture and Scient, providing project management skills to clients in energy, telecommunications, manufacturing, and professional services.
Mr. Quarles, who served in the US Navy as a SEAL, graduated with Merit from the United States Naval Academy, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering. He holds an MBA from Harvard University and is a CFA charterholder.
