John is seasoned executive creating, managing or embedded as a C-level executive with emerging and established companies. His strengths are in designing and executing a strategy to align a business focus to key performance indicators, strategic business development, fund-raising, and tactical marketing.
John spent his early career in banking at
Chemical Bank (now Chase) and Texas Commerce Bank and brokerage (Series 7 & 63 licensed).
From 1995 to 2005, John partnered with music impresario Russell Simmons, founder of Def Jam Records to create Oneworld Media, Inc. where he served as CEO. Oneworld produced a magazine of the same name, a TV program with Warner Bros., and entered into a multi-year custom publishing relationship with Hearst Magazines.
He served as co-founder and CEO in the venture-backed, video-based travel platform VoyageTV. VoyageTV raised $10 million in an A-Round led by Syncom Venture Partners in 2008, and in 2013 was sold to Next 1 Interactive. Voyages maintained offices in New York City and Taiwan and syndicated short-form travel video and commerce opportunities to over 40 million cable homes through Cablevision, Charter Communications, Verizon FiOS and Comcast.
Since 2013 John has led tech-focused ventures with SaaS and D2C products.
