John Newton is the founder of Alfresco Software and has had one of the longest and most influential careers in content and information management. In 1990, John co-founded, designed and led the development of Documentum, then the pioneer and leader in content management. In 2005, John started Alfresco Software in the UK to bring open source
development and innovation to the $6 billion enterprise content management market. In 2007, John was named a Technology Pioneer at the World Economic Forum in Davos. John has also been head of database development at Ingres, one of the first relational database companies, an Entrepreneur in Residence at Benchmark Capital, and Chairman of AIIM, the industry body of the information management industry.
