John co-founded Rubicon Genomics in 2000. He spent 23 years as a professor in the Department of Biology and 6 years as chair of the Biophysics Research Division at the University of Michigan. He did his Ph.D. studies at the University of Chicago and postdoctoral studies at the MRC-LMB in Cambridge and Biozentrum in Basel. John has numerous patents
and over 40 peer-reviewed publications on DNA, nucleosome, telomere, and chromosome structure.
In his spare time, John enjoys the solitude of his country home where he harvests solar energy from the forest, orchard, garden and roof to sustain his family.
