John Kottmann is a marketing and branding professional with more than 20 years of experience shaping the business strategies, brand platforms and creative content of Fortune 500 companies. He has held leadership roles in several of the largest global advertising agencies under the corporate parents of Omnicom, WPP and IPG.

Mr. Kottmann is

currently a Managing Director and the Chief Marketing Officer at Tarifica, where he helps clients seeking to build the strength of their brands and accelerate growth in market share. He joined the Tarifica team in 2019. In addition to his Managing Director responsibilities, he also serves as a member of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Kottmann began his career at McCann-Erickson in the mid-1990s where he successfully helped McCann expand its Coca-Cola relationship in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He went on to lead the Strategic Planning Group in McCann's flagship New York office for eight years. During this time the agency won numerous Cannes Lion awards and expanded revenue significantly with client wins from Microsoft, Verizon, General Motors, Intel and more. He was part of the McCann team that created the iconic Priceless platform for MasterCard and helped introduce Priceless to more than 80 markets worldwide.

From McCann, Mr. Kottmann moved to Ogilvy New York where he was a Senior Partner, leading business development and strategic initiatives for American Express, IBM, Gap and BlackRock.

Most recently he served as North American Chief Strategy Officer for DDB Worldwide from 2012 to 2019. There he was responsible for stewarding brands such as Audi, Merck, Capital One and McDonald’s, and for expanding the network’s data and digital marketing capabilities.

Mr. Kottmann holds an M.B.A. from New York University and resides in Manhattan.
