John is Managing Director of ACT and has been active in general management, consultancy and venture capital investing for 20 years. He joined ACT Venture Capital in 1996. His investment focus is on semiconductors, communications and software businesses.
John is currently on the boards of,Corvil, Eblana Photonics, e-Net, PrismTech, and Lime
Microsystems and works closely with the teams at Barracuda and Skillpages.
Previously, he was a director of Massana (acquired by Agere), Straatum (acquired by Lam Research) Cape Clear Software (acquired by Workday), Allfinanz (acquired by Munich Re) and AEP Networks (acquired by Ultra Technologies).
Prior to joining ACT, John spent 6 years in various general management and consultancy positions within the international IT services provider, EDS in the UK, Germany and the US.
He graduated from University College Dublin (UCD) in 1990 with a degree in Physics and Mathematics. In 1996 he received his MBA from Trinity College Dublin (TCD).
