John Ferrier, Infrastructure and Security Architect for Nexen Energy ULC, is responsible for technology selection and direction for Nexen’s global environment. Nexen is headquartered in Calgary, Canada and is a wholly owned subsidiary of CNOOC Limited who are the leading offshore producer in China with over 1.3million barrels of oil produced daily.
John is a graduate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland and has worked in the IT space for over 15 years fulfilling many roles from Citrix consultancy, Intel Team lead and moving into the Architecture space for the last 5 years of his career. John’s time is split between advising and approving all infrastructure designs for Nexen’s PMO and ensuring future technology direction is researched, understood and implemented. In his spare time John is an avid photographer spending spare time in the Canadian Rockies and snapping his 2 kids in their sports and dance activities.
