John Cain is an industry expert in automotive software and software development. After starting his career as a mechanical applications engineer Western Gear, now part of Northrop Grumman, John worked in business development and product marketing for United Technologies and Lucas Electronics (nowTRW), holding several management roles including
Director of Automotive at Philips Semiconductors (now NXP), VP of Automotive at Siemens Microelectronics (now Infineon), VP of Marketing and Sales at Vector CANtech.
In 2002 John formed 3IS, a Michigan based company providing electronics research tools, and consulting services to the automotive industry. Consulting clients include: Major German Automotive Software Company, College of Engineering at University of Michigan, Global Automotive Infotainment Software Alliance, North American Automotive OEM’s Electronics Engineering departments, Major Software Development Tools Company and other Automotive Software Tools companies.
John is an established author, having written an IT related/server query – software process patent USPTO # 7,333,975, and publishing several industry white papers & studies primarily focused on automotive software and software development, including :Automotive NetComm Software and Development Tools: 2006 (private client), CMMI and Software Maturity Models: 2007 (private client), PLM for Automotive Software Development: 2008 (private client), Marketing Requirements Document for Open Source IVI (private client)/Public Version, Title: IVI Architecture Software Report: 2010, and Embedded Linux for IVI Systems: 2012 (private client)
John received his BA degree from VA Tech & MBA from Loyola University.
