John Byers has held an executive role at Cogo Labs since the company’s founding in 2005, serving as CTO and then Chief Scientist before returning to academia. He continues to serve on the company’s Board of Directors. John is a full Professor of Computer Science at Boston University.
John is an internationally-recognized expert in algorithms,
electronic commerce, and computer networking, with an extensive track record of widely cited publications. He brings over 20 years of research leadership to Cogo Labs to tackle the fascinating problems at the core of the business involving efficient algorithms, massive datasets, mathematical modeling, and scalable systems design.
He received his B.A. from Cornell University and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley.
