Dr. Baldwin is Senior Advisor for Health Affairs to the Texas Tech Univ. System.
Prior to that, he has served as President of Texas Tech Univ. Health Sciences Center President & CEO of CBR Institute for Biomedical Research (now Institute of Immune Diseases).
From 1998 to 2005, Dr. Baldwin was the Associate Provost for Health Affairs at
Dartmouth College and Professor of Surgery at Dartmouth Medical School. From 1994 to 1998, Dr. Baldwin was the head of the surgical programs at Baylor College of Medicine and its affiliated hospitals. Dr. Baldwin was also the Governor of the American College of Surgeons from 1991 through 1997 and the President of the International Society of Cardiothoracic Surgeons in 1999.
Dr. Baldwin has served as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Overseers of Harvard University. Dr. Baldwin served as a director of Massey Energy Company from 2004 until 2006. He has been a director of Quest Diagnostics since May 2004. Dr. Baldwin has extensive executive experience, including in strategic planning, with major organizations, and extensive experience with health care issues and the operation of the U.S. health care system, including as a practicing physician.
