Being raised in a family involved in the meat business, made Joey Allaham develop a passion for food at a young age. He was born in Damascus, Syria where he learned a lot of things from his grandfather. When he was only 5 years old, his grandfather used to take him along so he could see how the business works in real-time. In 1992 his family moved
to the US, and although they wanted him to become a lawyer, he decided to follow his passion and enter the kosher restaurant market.
Getting started in New York City wasn’t easy for Joey Allaham. In fact, his first job in America after arriving there with his mother was at a local market working as a stock boy. But he quickly worked his way up, and by the time he reached his late 20’s he was already a successful entrepreneur and a restaurant owner. The first restaurant that he opened was Prime Grill, located on East 49th Street.
Once Prime Grill opened, word got out and New Yorkers were lining up to come and taste the best kosher experience. As a noted restaurateur Joey Allaham takes great pride in conducting all of his operations in a most professional manner. After his initial success, he was able to expand his business and open a Japanese steakhouse, Mediterranean-Asian fusion restaurant, and a gourmet food store.
