Mr. Yates serves as the President of Par Hawaii, Inc. Prior to this, he served as CEO and President of Mid Pac Petroleum, LLC from August 2007 until Par Pacific’s acquisition of Mid Pac. Mr. Yates also served as President and CEO for Hawaii Gas (formerly The Gas Company) from 2003 to 2007, including a period in which he oversaw operations for a
related company, Kauai Electric. Earlier in his career, Mr. Yates spent 11 years at BHP Petroleum in oil and gas exploration and production in positions of increasing responsibility before transferring in 1993 to Honolulu as Vice President - Corporate Development for BHP Hawaii, the then parent company of HIE. He is a member of the Board of City Mill Co., Ltd., the YMCA of Honolulu, the Governors for Chaminade University and the Energy Institute, Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma. Mr. Yates also serves as a trustee on the David C. Ai Charitable Trust. Mr. Yates holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma and a J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center.
