Jim Nelson is co-founder and former CTO of Simply Business, Europe’s largest online commercial insurer. Jim and his partners founded the business in 2000 and led its strategic direction until exiting in 2017. Over the past several years, Jim has been active in a number of technology startups,
including those in the fields of financial services, natural resources, and healthcare. Most recently, Jim founded and is running Knosys Investments, a boutique investment and advisory firm.
Jim also has over 20 years of corporate experience in investment banking and commercial finance in Europe, North America and Asia. In his most recent corporate role, Jim was the Asia CIO for Nomura International, where he led a 700+ person team deployed across 12 operating countries in Asia. Other corporate briefs include an Asia CIO role with Dresdner Kleinwort, as well as various management and technical roles in both Europe and the US.
