Jim Mather has served Housing Trust as Chief Lending Officer since 2013. In this position he oversees the development and administration of all multifamily (MFLP) and homebuyer (FTHB) programs – approving all FTHB loans and making the final recommendation on MFLP loans to the respective committees. Before joining Housing Trust, Jim held various

senior roles in community development banking at Union Bank, Bank of America, and US Bank. At these institutions, he originated more than $1 billion in loans and investments for affordable housing, and oversaw the asset management of large national affordable housing portfolios. Jim also worked in local government for the County of Alameda Housing and Community Development Department and has been an advisor on affordable housing, smart growth and transit-oriented development to the California Department of Transportation, the Bay Area Council, and BART. He is also on the boards of Merritt Community Capital, Community Housing Works, and the San Jose Environmental Innovation Center. Jim has an MA in Architecture and Urban Planning from the UCLA and a BA from Yale University. He enjoys walking and hiking in places without connectivity.
