A hands-on technology and business leader, Jeffrey Breen currently leads the product and engineering teams for data security pioneer Protegrity. His career has focused on helping companies adopt and adapt new technologies, analytical techniques, and business models in both technical and executive positions.
Prior to joining Protegrity, Breen built
the data science platform and team to support Big Data and machine learning projects for multiple investment teams at Boston-based asset manager GMO. Breen had joined Big Data services startup Think Big Analytics in 2012, where he led the training business and several of the company's largest customer engagements. Following its acquisition by Teradata in 2014, Breen led solutions development and global analytics strategy for the company's 6,000-strong services business.
Prior to joining Think Big, Breen co-founded Atmosphere Research Group, a boutique research and consulting firm focused on the travel industry. His most-cited work includes airline merger antitrust work and his technique and tutorial for Twitter sentiment analysis in R.
Breen served as Chief Technology Officer of Yankee Group where he led the company's IT transformation and contributed the company's research on the topics of enterprise architecture and mobile payments and transactions. Earlier, he held leadership positions at Forrester Research, Navient Corporation, and SNL Financial.
Breen holds a B.A. degree in physics as well as astronomy and astrophysics from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.A. degree in astronomy from the University of Virginia. While working as an astronomer earlier in his career, he published and contributed to papers in The Astrophysical Journal, Science and various conference proceedings.
