Born and educated in the United States, Jeffrey Beard graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1972 with a bachelor of science in analytical management, and has two graduate degrees, including an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, WI and an MS in Agribusiness.
His early career was as a surface warfare officer in the US Navy, followed
by a management role in Procter & Gamble (1978 – 1985). He has over twenty years (1985 – 2005) of agribusiness experience as an executive with two companies, Pioneer Hi-Bred Intl. and as COO of Syngenta Seeds (Basel, Switzerland).
More recently he has served as the Director General (CEO) of the International Baccalaureate, an education not-for-profit organization. His business career have included roles of increasing responsibility in several multinational corporations where he developed his cross-functional management experience and understanding of strategic planning, thinking and delivery.
He is married, has two grown children, and currently resides in The Hague, Netherlands.
