Jeff Robbins is a musician and the co-founder of Lullabot.
He began his web career in 1993 with O'Reilly Media's Global Network Navigator, the world's first commercial website. However, in 1994 his band Orbit signed with A&M Records and his musical career took him in another direction.
In 1997, Robbins' song
"Medicine" made it into the Modern Rock Top 10 chart. Orbit toured extensively throughout the North America eventually joining the Lollapalooza tour and playing numerous festivals and club dates.
In 2001 Orbit was dropped from A&M and over the next few years, Robbins transitioned from music to web development. He started a soundtrack music company and created music for several television commercials. From 2002 to 2006, he and his wife Jennifer Niederst Robbins ran Ringo Starr's website.
Late in 2004, he began building his first project using the open-source CMS, Drupal. At the time he found Drupal to be very frustrating but full of potential. During the first half of 2005, he met an experienced Drupal developer named Matt Westgate who helped him through the difficulties and helped him become a Drupal expert.
On January 1st, 2006, Robbins and Westgate launched Lullabot, a company focused on getting Drupal to a larger audience and helping new Drupal developers to become experts. Robbins' podcast quickly became a staple of the Drupal community. Lullabot ran the first Drupal workshops and built some of the first household brand websites which used Drupal. The company became known for its training and consulting services and helping many companies to move their websites onto the free CMS.
Over time, Lullabot transformed into a full-service digital agency offering strategy, design, and development services for many well-established brands such as Sony, Turner Broadcasting, Verizon, NBC Universal, Harvard University, and more. Robbins also launched Drupalize.Me, Lullabot's subscription-based video training website.
As of 2013, Robbins' role is CEO of Lullabot, a growing 40-person distributed company. He co-hosts Lullabot's "Creative Process" podcast. He also writes and lectures about building culture and growing a distributed company.
