Jay Wengrow is an experienced web developer and educator, having both a M.S. in Software Engineering and a M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision from Loyola University Chicago. He has extensive experience with Ruby on Rails in a variety of roles. He was the lead developer at Doggyloot, a successful e-commerce startup, and currently works at
Apartments.com building complex enterprise systems from scratch. He launched his Anyone Can Learn To Code mentoring service last year, and has been teaching Rails to a variety of clients over nights and weekends.
He is now morphing his mentoring service into the Anyone Can Learn To Code Bootcamp, which he feels will enable him to teach his finely tuned curriculum to a greater number of students, and allow more people to get into the field of technology. Jay believes that many people shy away from entering tech because of a wide misconception that one has to be either brilliant or a nerd to understand it. He aims to make the field of software engineering more accessible by teaching programming in a way that is intuitive, utilizing his (unfortunately) rare ability to explain “complex” technical concepts in plain English. Outside of work, he also enjoys spending time with his family, creating kids’ computer languages, massive multiplayer shuffleboard, and writing about himself in third person.
