Jay Dorfman previously resided in Marine Park, Brooklyn, but then left in the late 1960s. The "Summer of Love" and Woodstock had concluded and folks inquired about established conventions. This was new to the world. Dorfman, a musician, began traveling around with a music group that he brought together. This group consisted of close
friends. Dorfman's band was booked in New York clubs at a time where new, different music was becoming extremely sought after. Major names in music that the world knows today came from out of this scene.
Dorfman and his band, known as "Sweet Smoke, decided to take a major risk and relocated to Germany. They found a place to reside and came into contact with the appropriate people in the music business. A record contact with EMI Records became a reality. The band's debut release was highly regarded and brought them to clubs all throughout Europe. They continued to grow in popularity and the sizes of the venues they played reflected this growth. Jay's band opened for big names. Their album sales were increasing as well and eventually they had released four albums. Over time Jay's band came to the decision to take some time apart as a band. This happened in 1975. They took a trip to India to become more in touch with spiritualism. Jay Dorfman's band resided there for nine months. The trip had certainly influenced Jay's great interest in traveling. For more information on Jay Dorfman please visit one of websites.
