Jason Weinstein, a Partner in Steptoe’s Washington office, is a seasoned litigator who concentrates his practice on matters related to privacy and cybersecurity and financial technologies and white-collar criminal defense and government investigations.
Weinstein is a former Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the DOJ’s Criminal Division; in
this role he led DOJ’s cybercrime enforcement and data breach response efforts.
He also regularly briefed government officials and members of Congress on cybercrime and intellectual property issues and testified on a number of occasions before Senate and House committees on cybercrime, cybersecurity, privacy and data protection, and intellectual property enforcement. Weinstein helped lead efforts at the DOJ to draft cybersecurity and data privacy legislation.
