Dr. Jason Prapas is CTO and co-founder of FACTOR[e] Ventures. In his role at FACTOR[e], he leads the company’s technology assessment and derisking activities. This includes a range of functions from techno-economic modeling to product development to engineering management. He also serves as the Director of India Operations, which is aimed at
growing a pipeline of impact opportunities in India while also accelerating manufacturing for FACTOR[e]’s global portfolio.
Jason has been working in energy R&D for over a decade. His experiences in research laboratories and startup companies span a diverse array of topics including algae biofuels, advanced composite materials, and thermo-mechanical devices for the energy poor. As part of his doctoral work, Jason invented clean cooking technologies that are now being commercially distributed around the world. He serves as a Director on multiple Boards including Village Industrial Power, Sistema Biobolsa, and the Editorial Board for DEMAND, ASME’s Global Development Review.
Dr. Prapas received his B.Sc. in Physics from Brandeis University, his M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University, and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University’s Energy Institute.
