Jared is a Cyber Security Research Scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he leads several projects and collaborate son others with some of the best applied security researchers in the world. He is currently working on his PhD in Computer Science with a focus on computer security at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he also
received my BS in Computer Science. As an undergrad, he founded and led the first VolHacks, his university’s hackathon, raising 35k, hosting 23+ sponsors, and bringing in over 200 students in its first year. He also founded and led HackUTK, his university’s resident security club, growing it from four founders to over 90 active members and 6 sponsors in 1.5 years. He has also published at peer-reviewed academic venues, given a number of industry conference and meetup talks, and is an experienced software engineer capable of working across a variety of systems and languages.
