Jan was an early and visionary proponent of digital media, coining the phrase “hypermedia” and creating the first hypermedia lab at the University of Hawaii in 1991. He has also built startups in the Czech Republic, Thailand, and the U.S. After he received his Ph.D. at the prestigious Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich he managed his own
research lab there. He is Co-Director of the Advanced Multimodal-Interaction lab (AMI) and has been professor of Computer Sciences at University of Hawaii for more than 25 years. In the mid 90's, Jan built the prototype app that is now the basis of parWinr's games. "You give me a video, and I'll turn it into a game." Finally, suitable technology and rock-solid intellectual property have brought his project to market.
