Jan has more than 17 years of experience in the financial sector, including 11 years at the Sydney Futures Exchange, where she managed research and business analysis for market and product design projects, including that of a ‘carbon credit’ market. Prior to joining CSIRO, Jan was active in facilitating funding in Australia for technologies
promoting green energy and coupling those projects with secured carbon credits.
Jan has been with CSIRO since 2003 and heads up CSIRO’s commercial and transaction execution team. This functional group is an integrated team of commercial, legal and IP professionals. It is focussed on effective commercial transaction execution and strategic advice to support the enterprise in delivering its impact outcomes. The team engages with large and small industry domestically and globally, seeking opportunities to partner to achieve innovation through collaboration, licensing and equity transactions. CSIRO is Australia’s largest commercialiser of innovation with over 100 active commercial licenses and more than 150 start-up companies formed based on CSIRO intellectual property.
Jan joined the Board of Commercialisation Australia in February 2010 and has been a board member of number of CSIRO start-up companies and is currently on the Executive Committee of Knowledge Commercialisation Australasia. Jan is also active in Australia’s early-stage technology investing sector.
