As General Counsel for SPI, Jamilia Smith assures the availability, continuity and quality of competent, timely, and cost-efficient legal services throughout the global organization, including managing external counsel in the United States Canada, Brazil, Australia and Singapore. She counsels the SPI Executive and Management Teams on labor and
employment matters and compliance issues, prepares general business contracts, and maintains the corporate records for the SPI group of companies.
Prior to joining SPI, Jamilia was of counsel with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough in Atlanta and a senior associate attorney with one of Atlanta’s largest boutique immigration law firms. She was also the senior associate attorney with a large boutique immigration law firm in New York City.
Jamilia is admitted to practice law in New York and Georgia and is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, where she served as the Chair of the Atlanta Chapter’s Customs & Border Protection Committee for 2009 and 2010. She has also served as a Judicial Law Clerk & Criminal Specialist for the State of Connecticut Superior Court and as a Legal Intern with the Executive Office for Immigration Review’s Immigration Court in New York City.
