James Segil is based out of Manhattan Beach, California, and is on the Board of Directors of HiveWatch. Most recently, James was President and Co-Founder of Openpath Security, a company offering the next generation of physical access control solutions for the modern workplace. In July of 2021, James sold Openpath to Motorola Solutions and then headed up marketing and inside sales for their Video Security & Access Control division. Before co-founding Openpath, James was the Chief Marketing Officer for Verizon Digital Media Services and responsible for all marketing and alliances for this division of Verizon. James came to Verizon by way of the company he co-founded, EdgeCast Networks, which was acquired by Verizon in December of 2013 for a reported $400 million value. James has built and sold four companies so far in his career:

3. Co-founder and President of EdgeCast Networks Inc., one of the world's leading Content Delivery Networks. EdgeCast has built a global edge network that carries more than 5% of global internet traffic and is the CDN technology behind many of the web's biggest cloud hosting and telecommunications companies (www.edgecast.com). Aquired by Verizon in 2013
2. Co-founder and President of KnowledgeBase Solutions Inc, which he sold to Talisma Corporation (now called Moxie Software). Successfully built this privately funded Enterprise Software company into a profitable industry leading company. KnowledgeBase was ranked by Forrester as the Industry Leader in eService and was acquired by Talisma Corp in March 2005 (www.talisma.com).
1. Former COO for Virtualis Systems Inc (rebranded Hosting.com), which he sold to Allegiance Telecom. Successfully ran this venture backed hosting company between years 1999-2000 (www.hosting.com) selling it to Allegiance Telecom in 2000.
Before jumping into the Internet, James built his early career in consumer product marketing as a Former Product Manager for Hot Wheels Brand at Mattel Toys.
He is a graduate of the Harvard Business School - class of 1999
