James Sclater (London) joined KKR as part of Avoca Capital, and is a senior portfolio manager for the European long/short credit business. Before joining Avoca in 2011, Mr. Sclater worked at Ilex Asset Management and Liontrust Asset Management. Previously, he worked for Cairnsea Investments running a long/short equity fund. He originally
qualified as a lawyer with Clifford Chance, where he worked primarily in banking and project finance. He then worked for a project management company in Mozambique. Mr. Sclater is a graduate of the University of Bristol where he earned a B.A. in philosophy and politics.
