James Halpert is global Co-chair of DLA Piper's Data Protection, Privacy and Security and Cybersecurity practices.
He advises corporate boards, general counsel’s offices and risk officers on risk management, including crisis management, incident response programs, governance, cybersecurity risk reviews and vendor and supply chain risk
management.
He has advised clients on global security and privacy requirements. He represents clients in major security and privacy cases in federal courts and before the FTC.
He has helped draft hundreds of U.S. state privacy and security laws, as well as the NIST Cyber Security Framework privacy provisions. He is recognized by Legal 500 lawyers review service as a Tier 1 “Leading Lawyer” in its Cyber Crime and Data Protection and Privacy categories.
