Jim Herbert is currently Chairman of The BASIC Fund and has been a Director since its founding in 1998. He was the Founder and Executive Chairman of First Republic Bank. He founded First Republic Bank as CEO in 1985, and transitioned to the role of Executive Chairman in 2022.
Previously, he was the Founder, President, Chief Executive Officer and
a director of San Francisco Bancorp from 1980-1985. Mr. Herbert currently serves as the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Twelfth District member for the Federal Advisory Council and holds board/trustee positions with Babson College; the San Francisco Ballet Association (Chair and Co-Chair, 2002-2008); Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, New York; and The BASIC Fund.
