Jake Avnet is the Chief Operating Officer at INDIGENOUS MEDIA, a next generation digital studio focused on producing original content for digital and emerging platforms worldwide, as well as developing and operating multi-platform content brands.
INDIGENOUS is best known for WIGS, the digital drama channel offering over 180 episodes of scripted
content, including 15 high-end original series, 7 short films and 10 documentaries, all starring female leads. WIGS has been referred to as “the HBO of the internet”, and the programming has garnered more than 1.7M+ total subscribers to date. Popular series on the WIGS channel include Blue, about a mother with a secret life, starring Julia Stiles; Lauren, a narrative about the complications stemming from a military rape, starring Troian Bellisario and Jennifer Beals; Serena, a story of lust, temptation and forbidden love, starring Jennifer Garner and Alfred Molina; Jan, about a young woman whose first job goes awry, starring Virginia Madsen, Stephen Moyer and Caitlin Gerard; and Susanna, starring Maggie Grace and Anna Paquin, which addressed post-partum depression. WIGS inked a unique "programming, marketing, and distribution partnership" with FOX Broadcasting in February of 2013, and has been widely recognized by organizations including The Webbys, Streamy’s, IAWTV, and Writers Guild of America, among others.
Prior to this, Jake Avnet was an early adopter in the digital content space, producing viral web content, music videos and web series for companies such as Warner Brothers, FOX and the Sundance Film Festival. He has been on the forefront of migrating major writers, directors and actors from traditional media into the online space. Avnet has also produced television pilots for TNT, Warner Horizon Television, FOX and 20th Century Fox Television.
He was recently named one of Hollywood's New Leaders by Variety.
