Hui Yu is a Senior Lecturer with University of Portsmouth, UK. He received his PhD from Brunel University and previously held a research appointment with University of Glasgow, UK. He is a Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He has won the Best PhD Thesis Prize for my PhD study, Outstanding Undergraduate
Prize, EPSRC DHPA Awards and Vice Chancellor Travel Prize. He has involved in research projects supported by European Union FP7 Framework, The UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and other research fund resources in recent years.
Dr. Hui Yu has acted as an editorial board member and guest editor for several international journals and severed as the program chair, session chairs/workshop organiser for some international conferences. He has published papers in many top group journals including IEEE Transactions on Human-Machine System, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS) and Computer & Graphics among others. Dr. Yu’s research interests include computer vision, computer graphics and application of machine learning to these areas, particularly in Imageideo processing and recognition, human computer interaction, human behaviour understanding, affective analysis and geometric processing of human/facial performances. His work on facial and human analysis has led to successful collaboration with top scientists and other national organizations. The 4D facial expression synthesis system he developed with colleagues has been used by many wold renowned research labs and institutions including Caltech, Princeton University, University of Montreal and Geneva University and so on.
